Jowita Haugen joined
PACIM as a board member in 2007. Jowita was born and grew up in Świdnik
(near Lublin), Poland. She obtained her Master degree in Polish Philology
from the Catholic University of Lublin in Poland in 2001. Jowita came to the
United States and obtained her Master degree in Counseling and Human
Resources in 2004 from the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Currently,
Jowita works in the Human Resources department for a 500 Fortune company in
St. Paul.
Jowita joined PACIM as a board member to promote Polish culture, heritage
and language among Twin Cities’ residents. She helped in organizing the
Polish Soup festival in 2007 and the Carnival Ball in 2008; and is helping
with the upcoming Festival of Nations in May of 2008. Jowita feels strongly
about promoting Polish culture through its literature and films. Together
with her husband Paul, she is hosting Polish movie nights at the PACIM
library. The movies being presented picture many aspects of Polish history
as well as modern culture.
Jowita joined PACIM with a strong intent to promote Poland that will appeal
to all generations and bridge the friendships between Polish-Americans and
other cultures here in the Twin Cities.
