The Polish American Cultural Institute of
Minnesota Library (Polish American Library) was established in October of
1994 to act as a local depository of Polish culture. The Library
accomplishes its goal by:
• Providing current Polish and English
language materials for our members' enjoyment.
• Preserving an array of materials on
Polish arts and traditions for Polish Americans interested in their
heritage.
• Maintaining a collection of
biographies, histories, and social sciences available to student
researchers.
The Library contains over 4,500 titles,
audio books, CDs, DVDs and videos on all aspects of Polish culture. New
titles are added every month. We also have a large number of fiction and
children's books.
The Library is open on Sundays from
1:00 PM to 3:30 PM or by appointment. Please call 763-571-9602 to
verify
open dates around national holidays.
Where is the Library located?
The Library is located at 2514 Central
Avenue NE (just north of Lowry Avenue) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Parking is
available on the street or in our lot behind the building.

Who can use the Library?
The public is invited to use the
facilities. However, materials may be checked out only by members of the
Polish American Cultural Institute of Minnesota. The current PACIM
membership is $25 per year. The lending period is one month, with an option
of renewing for an additional month. A fee will be charged for overdue
materials.
How is the Library supported?
The Polish American Cultural Institute
of Minnesota and its members support and maintain the Library. PACIM is a
non-profit organization established under Section 501 (c) 3 of the Internal
Revenue Code.
The Library also receives grants from
foundations and donations from our members, local corporations and the
general public. Donations have included books, videos, CDs, DVDs,
furniture and art in addition to monetary gifts.
If you wish to make a monetary or
materials donation to the Library, please call 763-571-9602.
How is the Library staffed?
Staffing of the Library is provided by
persons interested in keeping information on Poland and its people available
to the public. Volunteers are asked to donate three hours per month. The
Library is in particular need of Polish speaking persons. However, English
speaking volunteers are always needed to assist patrons, check out and
re-shelve books.
Training in Library procedures is
provided to all new volunteers. Anyone interested in working in the Library
should call 763-571-9602 for more information.
